The air of dance is already in the atmosphere in Spoleto as we await the International Dance Competition, now in its 33rd edition, taking place from April 29th to May 4th, 2024, at the Giancarlo Menotti Theater in Spoleto. Artistic direction will be led by Irina Kashkova, with Paolo Boncompagni as Organizational Director and Sara Zuccari as President of the Critics’ Award.

It promises to be an intense week for young dancers coming from all over the world to participate in the only Italian competition recognized internationally and listed among the most prestigious competitions by the International Federation of Ballet Competitions.

There are several competition categories: Soloists in the Classical Section, Soloists in the Modern/Contemporary Section, Pas de Deux, Choreographic Composition Section, and Group Section. For the Classical section, there is a subdivision into two groups, allowing participation from both academy students, ballet schools affiliated with lyrical and/or theatrical entities, and professional schools, as well as non-professional schools.

“The prestige of our competition is also due to the judging panel. The IDC Spoleto has always had an international jury,” explains Artistic Director Irina Kashkova, “with an Italian President, who will rigorously evaluate young dancers through various elimination rounds, semifinals, and finals, culminating in the award ceremony and performances by the winners at the Grand Gala on Saturday, May 4th, at the Giancarlo Menotti Theater.”
